The Flight Crew Championship

Flight Crew

Seven official positions in every team. No salary, limited authority. Each role has three side challenges, and every one a teammate signs off banks your team 10 crew points. Scored apart from the golf, so the Green Jacket stays out of it.

Flight Crew Champions 2026

The Golden Clipboard

Awarded to the flight demonstrating the highest level of completely unnecessary professionalism. Most signed-off crew points at the 19th takes it.

Seven positions per team

The jobs

Teams and roles are handed out the day before. Read up now so nobody can claim they weren't briefed.

Role 01

Flight Manager

Chief Executive of Poor DecisionsAppointed when teams are drawn

The big boss. The head honcho. The self-appointed CEO of questionable decisions.

Responsible for keeping morale high, the good times rolling and the flight operating like a well-oiled machine. Or at least a machine that's had a few schooners.

This highly prestigious position comes with absolutely no salary, limited authority and six golfers who probably won't listen.

Official motto"Under new management. Same poor decisions."

Side challenge

The Captain's Press Conference

Deliver three official press conferences during the tournament.

  1. 1Front Nine ForecastBefore the first hole: a 30-second motivational team speech.
  2. 2Mid-Round MeltdownHalfway round: explain the team's performance and blame at least one completely ridiculous external factor.
  3. 3The Final VerdictAt the 19th hole: a post-round press conference reviewing the team's performance.

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 02

Caddie

Director of Liquid LogisticsAppointed when teams are drawn

Forget golf clubs. This caddie handles the important equipment.

Responsible for making sure every golfer's beverage gets safely from the bar to the table.

Must possess exceptional drink-carrying skills, an excellent memory and the patience to deal with six people shouting their orders at once.

Any beverage spillage will be treated as a catastrophic equipment failure.

Official motto"No clubs. Just cold ones."

Side challenge

The Perfect Delivery

Complete three rounds of drinks delivery. A delivery counts when:

  • The right drinks reach the right golfers.
  • Nothing is spilled.
  • Refreshments are announced professionally.
  • At least one drink gets a ridiculously formal description.
For example"Your 2026 vintage Great Northern has arrived. Notes of Queensland sunshine, questionable ambition and a disappointing cricket season."
  1. 1Delivery one
  2. 2Delivery two
  3. 3Delivery three

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 03

Cart Attendant

Head of Piss & PunctualityAppointed when teams are drawn

All aboard the express service to the next watering hole.

Responsible for rounding up the flight and making sure everyone gets from hole to hole on schedule.

Must be capable of locating missing golfers, issuing final boarding calls and convincing the entire flight that it's actually time to leave.

Basically airport ground crew, except the passengers are wearing golf polos and nobody knows where the gate is.

Official motto"Next stop: questionable decisions."

Side challenge

The Final Boarding Call

Make three boarding announcements during the round. Each one needs:

  • The flight number (your team letter will do).
  • The next destination.
  • An official departure announcement.
  • At least one completely unnecessary airline-style warning.
For example"Attention passengers. Flight C is now boarding for Hole 6. Please ensure all personal belongings, dignity and unfinished conversations are accounted for. This service will depart with or without you."
  1. 1Boarding call one
  2. 2Boarding call two
  3. 3Boarding call three

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 04

Driving Range Attendant

Director of Hole-in-One OperationsAppointed when teams are drawn

One hole. One drink. One shot at golfing immortality.

The flight's official hype machine.

Responsible for creating the atmosphere around every hole-in-one opportunity and making sure each legendary performance gets the recognition it deserves.

Must provide excessive encouragement, unnecessary sporting analysis and celebrations normally reserved for major championship wins.

Official motto"One stroke. Eternal glory."

Side challenge

The Hall of Fame

Document three legendary golfing performances. Any of these qualify:

  • A voluntary hole-in-one attempt.
  • A particularly spectacular shot.
  • An impressive recovery from a terrible score.
  • An outstanding victory speech.
  • Any ridiculous sporting moment deserving official recognition.

For each one: announce the golfer, give them a dramatic introduction, then do a short post-performance interview.

For example"Unbelievable scenes here at Hole 4. Against all odds and several professional recommendations, we've witnessed a truly historic performance. How are you feeling after that?"
  1. 1Hall of Famer one
  2. 2Hall of Famer two
  3. 3Hall of Famer three

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 05

Greenkeeper

Superintendent of Greens & Good TimesAppointed when teams are drawn

Someone has to maintain the prestigious standards of this world-class golfing establishment.

Responsible for inspecting each watering hole, assessing playing conditions and identifying potential hazards.

These may include spilled drinks, suspicious scorecards, questionable footwear and golfers who have become far too comfortable at the previous hole.

No actual grass maintenance required.

Official motto"Keeping the greens clean and the golfers questionable."

Side challenge

The Course Conditions Report

Deliver three official course inspections. Each one covers:

  • Overall course conditions.
  • Weather observations.
  • A beverage temperature assessment.
  • At least one course hazard.
For example"We're looking at excellent playing conditions here at Hole 5. The greens are running fast, the beers are running cold and we've identified a significant hazard near the TAB. Three golfers have already gone missing."
  1. 1Inspection one
  2. 2Inspection two
  3. 3Inspection three

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 06

Scorekeeper

Chief Financial Officer of Bad GolfAppointed when teams are drawn

The only golfer in the flight trusted with basic mathematics.

Responsible for recording scores, investigating suspicious hole-in-ones and making sure nobody magically finishes five strokes under par.

Must have excellent attention to detail and a complete disregard for excuses.

The integrity of this internationally unrecognised tournament rests in their hands.

Official motto"If it's not on the scorecard, it didn't happen."

Side challenge

The Official Audit

Conduct three official scorecard audits. Each one includes:

  • Checking every completed hole has a score recorded.
  • Reviewing any suspicious scores.
  • Announcing the team's current leader.
  • A formal financial-style assessment of the team's performance.

Golf scores go on the scorecard. Crew points stay on this page.

For example"Following an extensive financial review, we've identified significant underperformance across the flight. Unfortunately, the numbers suggest we're better at the bar than on the course."
  1. 1Audit one
  2. 2Audit two
  3. 3Audit three

10 points a challenge, 30 for the set

Role 07

Tour Commentator

Head of Unsolicited CommentaryAppointed when teams are drawn

Every great sporting moment deserves professional commentary.

Unfortunately, this tournament has you.

Responsible for narrating dramatic moments, providing completely inaccurate sporting statistics and announcing every achievement like it's the winning putt at Augusta.

Must speak with the confidence of a professional sports broadcaster despite having absolutely no relevant experience.

Official motto"Making average performances sound extraordinary."

Side challenge

The Mic'd Up Masters

Deliver three live sporting broadcasts.

For example"The atmosphere is electric here in Mooloolaba. The crowd has fallen silent. All eyes are on the reigning champion, who currently sits seven strokes over par and has somehow misplaced their sunglasses."
  1. 1The Player IntroductionIntroduce a teammate as though they're competing in a major championship.
  2. 2The Championship MomentLive commentary during a golfer's performance.
  3. 3The Final AnalysisA dramatic tournament summary at the final hole.

Organiser tools

For Eugene. Hand out the roles, settle disputes and award the Golden Clipboard.

Crew rules

No pay. Full accountability.

Two competitions run on the day. The golf decides the Green Jacket. Crew points decide the Golden Clipboard. Neither touches the other.

C1How a challenge counts

Do it, then tap "I've done it" on this page. A teammate who saw it taps "Sign off" and your team banks 10 points. Nobody signs off their own role, and each challenge pays out once.

C2Two competitions

The Mooloolaba Open is decided by pub golf scoring on the leaderboard. The Flight Crew Championship is decided by signed-off challenges. Crew points never change anyone's golf score.

C3Short-staffed

Seven jobs, five to seven golfers a team. If your team is light on, someone holds two roles. Every job still gets done.

C4No drinking games

No challenge needs anyone to drink faster or drink more. It's about the bit, not the bottle.

C5Ties

Every challenge is worth 10, so a tie can't be split on numbers. The organiser settles it at the 19th. Organiser's call, no appeals.

C6Mistakes

Signed something off by accident? Find Eugene. The organiser can approve, reset or correct anything.
